Calla Lily

Calla Lilies are one of the most elegant and popular choices for wedding flowers.  The flowers are simple with one flowing, wrapping petal that has a smooth leathery texture.  Inside the deep tube shaped flower there is a piston with pollen in a shade of cream or yellow.  The calla lily stems are so big and dynamic that they are often incorporated as part of the design.  Calla lilies can be bunched in a group and put in a tall glass vase, being allowed to fall naturally – the archs of the calla lily stems provide simple, elegant drama.

Calla Lilies come in a wide range of colors from deep, almost blackish purple to burnt orange, to bright yellow, oranges, reds and whites.  They add shape, and interesting dimension to bridal bouquets.  They can be cut short and incorporated into mixed bouquets with other flowers.  Calla Lilies can also be arranged in bunches, with their stems kept long and wrapped with ribbon.  Such a bouquet creates a bold impact on a relatively low budget.  As a plus, when not in use, you can place them in a vase of water and prolong their life.
